FWIW I picked one up in the traditional AK/SKS cartridge, 7.62x39mm, for < $200, in mint, near-new condition. The stock bolt was loose, so I'm quite sure the previous owner sold it as being 'inaccurate'. I scoped it with a 1-3x Weaver scope and using 154grain Wolf brand soft-points it printed a nickle-sized 1" group @ 50-yards. I then shot four other 5-shot groups using mil-surp 122/123 grain FMJ & HP ammo and all shot 2" or less groups @ 50-yards. Most put 3 into a group with a few wild flyers, plus these all hit 4" higher. But, that 154gr soft-point load will make this a dandy short-range deer cartridge. My overall impressions. Nice wood, but the fit could be a touch better. I plan to glass-bed the rear stock and add LokTite to the stock bolt screw. The metal (actions & barrel) is nice, but the cocking/break lever & triggerguard looked like they were sprayed with a black powder coat. I'd prefer a trad-like blue or black phosphate finish. The takedown is slick! Just like a premium take-down shotgun; remove the foreend via a positive latch (embedded in forearm), open action and pull action out of the breech lock-up. My only QUESTION is ... WHEN will Remington OFFER EXTRA BARRELS!
